Effingham Public Library Hosts Local Artist Liz L’Hommedieu

The work of local artist Liz L’hommedieu will be on display in the art gallery at the Suzette Brumleve Memorial Effingham Public Library through April 30.

L’hommedieu, a native of Effingham who is coordinator of the library’s Richard and Diane Siemer Family Vault Art Gallery, has been drawing since childhood. As a student at Eastern Illinois University, she expanded her artistic skills, exploring various mediums such as painting, screen printing and ceramics.

Today, she primarily works with acrylic and watercolor paints. L’hommedieu enjoys blending different mediums, often incorporating colored pencils and pastels to create distinctive and dynamic pieces.

Her artistic style is influenced by light impressionism, particularly in her portraiture, where she uses quick, light brushstrokes, to create ethereal atmospheres.

Color, light and shadow are her greatest sources of inspiration. Recently, L’hommedieu has found creative expression through screen printing, experimenting with imagery and text. Whether working with paint or print, her artwork draws viewers into a world of soft hues and dreamlike qualities.

The art exhibit is free and a library card is not required to view the exhibit.
