The Effingham Public Library is pleased to welcome local artist, Janet Hargis.
“Hi, my name is Janet and I love to take pictures! Several years ago I decided to get a camera with some bells and whistles. It took good pictures, but I didn’t know how to use all the functions the camera offered. I even took a class to learn how to fully use the camera to no avail. I really just wanted to take pictures! When I bought my first iPhone, I became a real shutterbug! I just took pictures of anything that happened to catch my eye. At first, my favorite pictures were of sunrises. My husband and I would get up early in the morning, drive through McDonalds, eat in the car, and then drive to places where we thought we could get pictures of the sunrise. Things have changed this year. My wonderful husband, Dan, died in May. He was willing to stop, pull forward or backup, anytime I saw something that I thought would make a great picture. I finally went out by myself 2 weeks ago. It was bittersweet, but it was good to remember the fun times we had doing it together. I have many of the pictures printed. I began wondering what I was going to do with all these prints, so I started using some of them to make cards that I can use for many different occasions. I also enjoy making some simple crafts. God has provided so many awesome, amazing things in this world. Sometimes, I just have to tell myself to slow down, take a deep breath and revel in God’s wonderful creation!
I hope you enjoy my display!!”
Janet’s artwork will be displayed from Oct. 2nd – Nov. 29th
