The Effingham Public Library is pleased to host local artist, Connie Vonderheide.

Connie started painting in grade school and attended summer art classes at Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, Illinois.

She continued practicing and learning at Eastern Illinois University where she received an Elementary Education teaching degree as well as certification to teach art.

Since retiring from teaching she has been enjoying the opportunity to paint daily as well as exploring other mediums. She loves working with colors.

Connie finds inspiration everywhere: nature, music, her grandchildren, and master painters.

“When I see something I like I want to recreate it.

Art is a way to express oneself. It shows appreciation for the subject matter, shares thoughts, and  bring pleasure to others. All age groups of artists benefit from better communication, mental health, memory and reasoning.”

Connie’s artwork will be displayed in the Art Gallery until Feb. 28th, 2023.
